Draping: Architecture inspired
My final for draping was a group project. We had to choose a piece of architecture for our inspiration and we decided to do the Florence Cathedral.
We also had to incorporate at least 8 shoulder pads into our design, and do some sort of fabric manipulation.
I focused more on the intricate details inside the building which is translated in the beading I did on the bodice. The shoulder pads are incorporated in the skirt portion that creates volume on the hips. For our fabrics, we chose a white crepe and to contrast, a red printed chiffon to incorporate the rich red color of the dome. We also decided to use gold detailing to give it a richer feel.
